Toyota Noah and Voxy: looking after a family people carrier
Administrator
The Noah and its sister the Voxy are popular for large families, schools and shuttles. Most from 2014 onwards have a 2.0 litre petrol engine with a CVT, or a hybrid version. Carrying eight people regularly counts as heavy use, so follow the shorter intervals in the manual.
Regular service
- Engine oil and filter every 5,000 km when the van works hard or sits in traffic.
- CVT fluid about every 40,000 km with the correct Toyota fluid.
- Brakes: a fully loaded van is heavy. Check pads and discs every 10,000 km.
- Tyres: use the pressures on the door-frame sticker for a full load, and check them weekly if you run school or shuttle trips.
- Rear AC: there's a second AC unit for the back seats. Have both checked and the cabin filter changed every 20,000 km.
Sliding doors
Power sliding doors can stick or stop halfway as the rollers, rails and motor wear. Keep the rails clean of sand and grit, don't force a door that's moving by itself, and have a slow or noisy door looked at early, before the motor or cable fails.
Hybrid versions
Keep the hybrid battery's cooling vent clear of bags and dust; see our hybrid battery guide.
